Explore teen careOur story
Steddy Healthcare was founded on a simple conviction: every woman deserves healthcare where she feels heard, respected and truly cared for — not rushed through an appointment with questions still unanswered.
Over more than 25 years as a Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife, Dr. Audrey M. Stedford has seen how often women leave a visit without the time, the explanation or the next step they needed. Steddy Healthcare exists to close that gap.
Healthcare should be a partnership. Each woman's story, lifestyle, goals and concerns matter.Read our full story and meet Dr. Stedford
Why patients choose Steddy
We are dedicated to accessible, culturally respectful, evidence-based care across the lifespan — honouring the mind, the body and the community.
Appointments are built for conversation. Your concerns get discussed, not deferred, and you leave knowing the next step.
Understanding your body is part of the treatment. We explain the what and the why so you can make informed decisions.
We account for the cultural, linguistic and socioeconomic factors that shape health decisions — and we reduce the barriers we can.
Recommendations follow current clinical guidelines from bodies including ACOG, USPSTF and the CDC — reviewed for your individual risk.
Telehealth
Many concerns don't require a trip to the office. Telehealth visits are available for follow-ups, medication management, lab result reviews, contraceptive counselling and much of routine wellness care.
Insurance
Coverage varies by plan and product. Please confirm participation with our office and your insurer before your visit.
Not sure whether we take your plan? Call (718) 968-2059 with your member ID and we will verify your benefits before you book.
Questions & answers
Women's health care covers the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of health concerns unique to — or more common in — women. That includes cervical and breast cancer screening, bone density, pregnancy and prenatal care, menopause symptoms, heart health, depression and anxiety, fertility and urinary tract concerns.
Screening for these conditions can identify illness before serious complications develop.
We record your weight and vital signs, review your medical history and complete a physical exam. Depending on your age, history and symptoms your visit may also include a pelvic exam, a Pap test, a clinical breast exam, and blood work.
Nothing happens without an explanation first. You can decline any part of the exam.
As a general rule, book once a year — or more often if your provider recommends it based on your history. Always schedule an appointment whenever new symptoms appear, rather than waiting for your annual visit.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends a first gynecologic visit between ages 13 and 15. That first visit is typically a conversation and a general health assessment — not a pelvic exam. Exams are performed only when medically indicated.
